Step 4 - Set Back File Permissions
You will see in the screenshot above that the permissions settings on one of the files requires changing before continuing. On Unix/Linux servers, you will need to CHMOD to '0644'. If you're installing on a Windows server, you will need to ensure the files are read-only using your hosting console. To change file permissions you will need to use FTP Client software to get access to the hosted files on the web server. From there you can change the file and directory permissions, called CHMOD, to the required settings. Once you have done this, click on 'Retry'. If the permissions have been set correctly, you will see the dialog as shown below.
In some cases, the following dialog may appear, notice the 'writable' setting and the statement saying the permissions are correct...
If this occurs, still CHMOD the file to '0644' or read-only. Click on 'Continue to Step 5' to proceed with the installation. |
