Step 2 - Check File Permissions
You will see in the screenshot above that the permissions on a few files and directories will need to be changed before continuing. You will also need to create a copy of 'global.inc.php-dist' as the instructions state for the new installation, and rename it to 'global.inc.php'. Ensure the files are writeable using your hosting console or FTP software. On Unix/Linux servers, writable means they are CHMOD to '0777' for the installation. For servers using phpSusExex or similar, CHMOD the files to '0755'. In most cases, '0755' will work for most installation. To change file permissions you will need to use FTP Client software to get access to the hosted files on the web server. From there you can change the file and directory permissions, called CHMOD, to the required settings. Once you have done this, click on 'Retry'. If the permissions have been set correctly, you will see the dialog as shown below.
Click on 'Continue to Step 3' to proceed with the installation. |
